FISHING
Home
| In
the lower part of the South Island of New Zealand, are
what must be described as some of "The best Brown Trout fisheries in
the world".
From the big hitting, hard fighting Sea Run browns of the coastal regions, to the wily, often difficult opponents in our smaller rivers and streams, such rivers as the world renown Mataura river are right on our doorstep. You can travel by 4WD vehicle to over twenty rivers, streams and spring creeks or take the trip of a lifetime by float-plane or helicopter into the unspoilt peace and tranquility of our high-country lakes and rivers. Our season runs from 1st October through till 31st May, with the early part of the season (October/November) best for nymph fishing, while from December through May producing superb results on a dry fly as well as nymph and streamer. You will need a current fishing license (valid for most areas of New Zealand) which can be purchased from any
tackle shop, as well as many other outlets, which will cost from NZ$12.00
for a single day (24 hours) to $82.00 for a whole season. If you would like to see what tackle you will need, (I can supply this for you) visit my tackle page.
