Trout Fishing in New
Zealand
We have mainly Brown Trout in this part of the world, with a few of our
streams and rivers also holding Rainbow Trout.

I have been fly fishing for trout in this part of the South Island of
New Zealand for over 20 years, guiding fly fishermen and women for the last 12 years.
I have also spent a few northern summers guiding in Southwest Alaska. As well
as giving me a lot of great memories, this has given me considerable experience to help
make your time here the trip of a lifetime.
Seasons
Our fishing season starts on the 1st of October and runs to the end of
May. There are, however, some rivers and lakes which are open all year
round.
Hunting in New Zealand
In this part of New Zealand we also have some fantastic bird
hunting.
We have large populations of Mallard and Paradise duck, Canada Goose and
also Californian Quail.
The hunting seasons are May-July for duck, June-August for Quail and most
of the year for Geese. Combine the long season with up to
20
birds per day bag limits, and you'll have a great time. See my Hunting

I am based in the town of Winton which is about 20 minutes drive north of
the city of Invercargill.
When you fly into New Zealand you will arrive at either Auckland or Christchurch
international airport. Both of our domestic airlines (Air New Zealand and
Qantas New
Zealand) have 3-4 flights per day into Invercargill.
There are rental cars available at the
airport or in the city, or alternately I can meet you at the airport.
There is accommodation available, from large hotels/motels in Invercargill city, to
smaller hotels, guest houses and Farmstay accommodation in the outlying
areas. All of these are only a few minutes drive from the
riverside, and come highly recommended.
